Pantomogram in Unimed Targówek Dental Clinic.

It is a panoramic X-ray of the jaws and mandible.

The pantomographic picture of the dentition gives an opportunity to illustrate the entire jaw and mandible with the temporomandibular joints and sinuses.

The pantomogram is very universal because it shows all teeth and all surrounding tissues at the same time.

The image is made immediately. It is recorded on a CD or other storage medium.

– When is the pantomogram useful?
In planning of implantation, during surgical treatment in situations where it is necessary to assess the condition and position of detained teeth. The advantages of pantomography are also used by orthodontics in the preparation and planning of orthodontic treatment and prosthetics respectively in the preparation and planning of prosthetic treatment.

General dentistry uses the pantomogram to detect carious lesions invisible from the oral cavity, to diagnose periodontal diseases (soft tissues) such as cysts and tumours, and the pantomographic picture is invaluable in dental treatment of children and in recognition of malformations of teeth and periodontium, lack of dental compounds or overdimensional teeth.

During the first visit the orthodontist examines the patient’s bite. He informs about the general nature of the occlusion defect, the proposed method of treatment and types of braces. For preliminary analysis a current pantomographic picture taken during the last 6 months is necessary. Unimed Dental Clinic offers such a service, it is possible to take this picture on the spot and from the moment it is taken.

They are available in our offer:

Fixed braces with metal and ceramic locks
Fixed metal and ceramic self-migrating apparatus
Haas, Kappa, Pendex camera
Nance tile
NiTi Expander
Retainer
Retention plate
The palatine arch
Mobile cameras:
Schwarz plate with a screw,
Block camera with a screw,
Doppelplatte plate,
Trainer,
Twinblock camera

The next step is to take impressions in order to make orthodontic plaster models.

In most cases, a lateral cephalometric image is also needed, especially in patients during the growth period.

A precise treatment plan is presented at the next visit. In order to take it, the doctor must perform a thorough analysis of the pantomographic and cephalometric images and plaster models.

Before putting on the braces, the patient needs to be checked by a general dentist, surgeon, prosthetician or periodontist. Before the placement of permanent braces, all teeth should be cured, cleaned of tartar and deposit. Painting of teeth should be done at least 1 month before attaching the orthodontic brackets.

The course of orthodontic treatment is individual for each patient. The doctor makes appointments with the patient for check-up visits with different frequency – it depends on the need and progress of treatment. Sometimes during the treatment it is necessary to make a control pantomogram or plaster models.

After the active phase of orthodontic treatment is completed, the retention phase follows. A permanent orthodontic retainer is glued to the inner part of the lower teeth, while a retention plate is often prepared for the upper teeth together with a permanent upper retention plate. In order to make a retention plate, an impression must be taken from the patient. The retention plate and permanent retention braces help to maintain the correct position of teeth obtained as a result of several years of orthodontic treatment.

The microscope has been gaining more and more supporters among dentists in recent years, although it has been in use in medicine for about 80 years. Today it is the basis of the so-called good dental practice and in the future it will probably become an indispensable apparatus in the equipment of an endodontist (dealing with root canal treatment of teeth), as well as a general dentist, serving in the performance of other procedures, e.g. in the periodic prophylactic examination of the oral cavity, will allow the detection of filling leaks and initial caries in the furrows and fissures of enamel.

The use of an operating microscope allows to examine the morphology of the treated tooth from the inside and improves the quality of treatment procedures. The microscope becomes an extension of the doctor’s vision. It helps to find additional canals, clear narrow and partially calcified canals and develop canals of unusual anatomical structure. It is important to be able to remove broken root canal instruments from the canals, close perforations (puncture of the root wall), provide internal and external resorption, detect tooth cracks invisible to the naked eye – these endodontic microprocedures would not be possible without a large enlargement of the treatment area and its illumination with concentrated light. The use of a microscope shortens the time of these procedures, which makes them less tiring for the patient and the doctor.

The microscope is also used for procedures from endodontic surgery, i.e. resection of the apex of the tooth root in the case of healing periapical inflammatory lesion, as well as precise procedures in periodontal surgery, implantology or prosthetics requiring good visibility.

Endodontics is a demanding field of dentistry, but the progress that has been made in it allows to save teeth that in the past were sentenced to removal. Modern endodontics is in these cases the so called last resort, thanks to which they can be successfully treated and preserved in the oral cavity for many years.

A tooth implant replaces the root. It is a screw made of titanium, which bonds to the bone. It is placed in the bone of the jaw or mandible, depending on the patient’s needs. After the implantation procedure, it is necessary to wait until the dental implant is overgrown by the bone and gums. Generation takes about 3 months.

The next step is to rebuild the tooth with a porcelain prosthetic crown or other restoration, which is based on the implanted screw.

The treatment itself is a completely safe method. Implantation of dental implants is supported by local anesthesia, which eliminates pain.

Undoubtedly, the choice of implants will improve the aesthetics of our oral cavity. The teeth will look natural. The most important thing, however, is that the patient will be able to feel as if they have their own teeth.

Tooth implants are the best form of cavity treatment, because it is a fast method and extremely durable – the effects may persist throughout the patient’s life if he or she follows the doctor’s recommendations.

We work on implants of 3i, Alpha-Bio and MIS implants.

Endodontics is a branch of dentistry dealing with root canal treatment. Deep caries cavities reaching the living tissue of the tooth – pulp, can lead to its bacterial infection. It is necessary to remove the cavity, clean, disinfect and fill the remaining space.

In cases of bone destruction around infected teeth, there is a need for prolonged root canal treatment to rebuild it by putting appropriate preparations, medications and dressings to the tooth.
